What is the FRL?

The Funding Readiness Level shows how well prepared you are for external financing – from rough budget ideas (Level 1) to investor-ready pitches (Level 9).

FRL Stages at a Glance

FRL 1–2 Vague idea, no financial plan or numbers

FRL 3–4 Basic pitch deck, rough budget sketched

FRL 5–6 Grant applications, test pitches, clear funding needs

FRL 7–9 Investor-ready, metrics in place, business case validated
